Spanning three generations, 'Share The Moon' is the family saga of one girl, one moon and three lives; one Spanish, one English and one Finnish. Blended together into a captivating life journey and infused with tenderness and humor, each post can be read as an individual stand-alone piece. To read the complete adventure start from the very first post, 'Share The Moon', and simply work your way upwards. Welcome to my journey on the first Sunday of every month!

Share The Moon Photo Gallery

Dear Readers,

Share The Moon photographs have been sourced from two separate locations;

-The vast majority have been obtained from the free picxture gallery PixaBay, and selected in order to create the correct atmosphere in the post alongside the written text.

-The small remaining photographs have been sourced from private family archives, the more recent ones of which have been taken by myself.

Let's look through some of the most memorable photographs along with their corresponding post. Alongside this, we also have some new and previously unseen material.

Where it all began; The island of Tenerife  as seen from the neighbouring island of Gomera. The majestic Teide volcano rises up in the background, 'silently watching over me as it did on the day of my birth' Watching The English Part III

Papa as a young soldier and shortly before he met Mama. Early1960's

 Mama and Papa shortly after their marriage in January 1963. I would arrive exactly nine-months later

A young Maria del Carmen aged around three and seated in Grandma Filomena's patio. Soon after Mama, Papa and I would embark on an exciting journey to mainland Spain, La Peninsula to meet with Papa's Andalusian family, The Other Planet and Meet The Family

The house in Alcala where Sis would come into the world in 1968, as recollected in the initial post Share The Moon

I am now five and officially a big sister 1969. Within the year our family would uproot and make the move to England. Unbeknown to me, the end of the sixties would not only mark the end of a decade, it would also marked the end of my Spanish life as I knew it. Share The Moon

On a drive around the coastline with niece Zara, we pass Grandma Filomena's home in Alcala. Here I came into the world in 1963. Warm memories are interspersed with dark and troubling recollections.  Dark Side Of The Moon

The Garrido Sanz family newly arrived in England; Papa, Sis, Mama , and myself. Taken around 1971 at Larry Morgan's photographic Studio, Brentwood.  I may be present, but my soul is elsewhere. FareWell Rabbits

The local beach at San Juan where the infamous The Beach Club can be seen to gather.

 A stone's throw away from San Juan is the village of Alcala, where both Sis and I came into the world.

 And finally, one of the loveliest views of the island, taken high above the majestic cliffs at The Los Gigantes tourist resort.

Share The Moon: Book One, is now complete and the posts will be gradually gathered together into suitable chapter format, expanded with added content covering areas hitherto untouched in the blog, and then prepared for publishing. In many ways, the final book will tell a very different story to the one shared on-line. Welcome to that journey when the time comes.
